Course review · not hands-on tested
Rocket Spanish review: what you get, what it costs and who it suits.
If an app streak has never turned into a spoken sentence, a paid course can look like the fix, or like one more thing that keeps you busy. Here is what Rocket Spanish says it includes, what it costs today, who it suits and who should keep their money, all from Rocket's own pages.
Facts about Rocket Spanish come only from rocketlanguages.com pages we opened on October 29, 2026. This page contains an affiliate link, labelled where it appears.

Affiliate disclosure. This page has one affiliate link, to Rocket Languages, on four buttons that each say “affiliate link”. If you buy Rocket Spanish through it, ClickBank may pay us a commission. We checked the pricing page directly and through our link on October 29, 2026 and saw the same prices both ways. We have not bought, tested or used the course: everything below comes from Rocket Languages’ own public pages. We also sell our own phrase packs and a short course, so we have a commercial interest in both directions. See our affiliate disclosure.
Our verdict, in short.
Rocket Spanish suits you if you learn well from audio, want lessons in order with the grammar explained, and prefer one payment to a subscription, mainly for Latin American Spanish. Look elsewhere if you need a person to correct you or only need phrases for one trip. Rocket offers a free trial it says needs no credit card, and a 60-day refund on paid levels.

You have done the streaks. The app said you practised, and then someone said ¿Qué desea? at normal speed and nothing came out. So when a course says it will get you speaking, the honest reaction is suspicion. This page is written for that reaction. It does not tell you to buy Rocket Spanish. It tells you what Rocket says the course is, what the price buys, and how to test it against the one thing that matters: whether you can say a whole exchange aloud without the screen.

What Rocket Languages says the course does.
These are Rocket’s claims, in our words, from its Spanish page, its Level 1 page and its help centre. They describe the design. They are not evidence of what the course will do for you.
- Audio lessons for listening and speaking. Rocket’s help centre describes its audio lessons as “delivered in podcast style”. They include a role-playing activity: you watch the conversation, pick a character and speak that part when prompted.
- Both sides of a conversation. The Spanish page says an activity lets you practise both sides of common conversations, so you are ready to respond in real life.
- Voice recognition. A tool called Rocket Record checks your pronunciation, and the lessons include phrases recorded by Spanish speakers. The help centre says Rocket Record needs an internet connection.
- Grammar and culture. Language and Culture lessons introduce each grammar topic with practice activities and include a cultural reading section. Rocket’s Spanish pages frame that culture around Latin America.
- Review of weak spots. The Spanish page says its activities use algorithms to find the words and phrases you have trouble with and bring them back.
- Offline audio. Audio lessons can be downloaded in the Rocket Languages app, not on the desktop site.
- Lifetime access. You keep access to a course you have paid for, including later updates, according to the Spanish page.
Rocket’s pricing page also labels each package with a level you “will reach”. Treat that as marketing. Its help centre is more careful, giving a “rough guide” that Level 1 is about CEFR A1/A2, Level 2 about A2/B1 and Level 3 about B1/B2. Rocket’s pages also show customer star ratings and testimonials; we have not checked them and do not repeat them here.
What each level includes.
Rocket sells Rocket Spanish by level. The figures below are copied from its pricing comparison table, as Rocket lists them.
| As listed by Rocket | Level 1 | Levels 1 and 2 | Levels 1, 2 and 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-time price (USD) | $149.95 | $299.90 | $449.85 |
| Hours of lesson time | 138 | 260 | 382 |
| Audio lessons | 31 | 59 | 87 |
| Language lessons | 33 | 61 | 89 |
| Culture lessons | 33 | 61 | 89 |
| Practice conversations | 30 | 58 | 86 |
| Voice recognition phrases | 3,074 | 6,918 | 11,327 |
| Bonus Survival Kit sets | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| Rough CEFR level (help centre) | A1/A2 | up to A2/B1 | up to B1/B2 |
Transcribed from rocketlanguages.com/pricing?language=spanish on October 29, 2026; the CEFR row is from Rocket’s help centre. Rocket’s own figures, not counted or tested by us.
For a beginner, Level 1 is the only package that matters at first. If you are six weeks from a move, the question is not whether 382 hours is a lot. It is whether the first ten audio lessons get you saying the lines you will need at a café counter, a landlord’s door and a bank desk.
Price, payment plan and refunds.
What you pay.
One-time prices in US dollars, before sales tax or VAT, which Rocket adds at checkout by location. The pricing page also offers a 6-month plan for the three-level bundle; the instalment amount was not in the page text we read, so check it at checkout.
Getting your money back.
Rocket’s refund policy offers a full refund on any purchase within 60 days. You email support with your receipt number; Rocket says it processes refunds within 2 working days, and they can take up to 5 working days to show on your statement.
- Payment plan refunds. The 60 days run from the first payment. After that, Rocket says you can cancel the plan to stop further charges but cannot get a refund. Its help centre says lifetime access comes once all six payments are made.
- App store purchases. If you buy inside the iOS app, Apple handles refunds; Rocket says this typically follows a 14-day policy. Buying on the website keeps the 60-day window.
- Extras. Levels 2 and 3 can be bought separately, and Rocket describes a family discount on extra copies for other family members.
If you do buy, put the 60-day date in your calendar on the day you pay, and run the check below in the first week, not the eighth.
Who Rocket Spanish suits.
- You learn well from audio and have a walk or a commute to fill. Podcast-style lessons you can download in the app fit that time.
- You want structure and explanations. If a game-style app taught you words without showing how they fit together, grammar lessons in order may help.
- You prefer one payment to a subscription. You pay once per level and keep access.
- Your Spanish is for Latin America, for example a move to Mexico City. Rocket frames its course and culture lessons around Latin America.
- You want scripted speaking practice on your own. The role plays prompt you to say your part aloud, which is the habit an app streak never built.
If most of these sound like you, the free trial is the cheapest way to find out. Visit Rocket Languages (affiliate link)
Who should look elsewhere.
- You need a person to hear you. Voice recognition checks sounds; it is not a teacher. The Rocket pages we read describe no live tutoring, so if you want someone to correct your sentences, a tutor or a live class does that job.
- You only need one trip’s worth of phrases. A café, a taxi and a bill can be covered with free practice. US$149.95 buys far more than a first trip needs.
- You are moving to Spain. The course is framed around Latin America. Use the free trial to check whether it covers the forms you will hear in Spain, such as vosotros, before you pay.
- You need to practise offline. Audio downloads work in the app, but Rocket says its voice recognition needs an internet connection.
- You want a deadline met. No course can promise you will be ready by your moving date. The question is what you can say aloud each week.
| Check | Rocket Spanish | Live tutor or class | Free practice on this site |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who hears you speak | Voice recognition | A person | You, or a friend reading the other part |
| How you pay | One-time per level | Usually per lesson or per course | Free |
| Structure | Three levels of lessons in order | Depends on the teacher | Seven days, then scenarios and a phrase deck |
| What to check first | The free trial and the 60-day refund date | A trial lesson and cancellation terms | Day 1 of the plan, tonight |
Formats compared, not products tested or ranked.
Test it in the free trial before you pay.
Rocket’s help centre says the free trial lets you try all levels of its courses. Use three short sessions to answer one question: does it get you saying whole lines without the screen?
| Session | What to do | Your note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Do one audio lesson and its role play. Count the full lines you say aloud, not the answers you tap. | number of lines |
| 2 | The next day, before opening the course, say yesterday’s lines from memory. | how many came out |
| 3 | Check whether it has taught you to ask for a repeat or a slower reply, such as ¿Puede repetir, por favor? | yes or no |
A self-check for your own use, not a test of the course.
Whatever you choose, carry these three lines from day one. They come from our free Conversation Rescue Card and use polite usted, the safer choice with a stranger who is helping you.
Say each one twice, cover the English and say it again. If a course session ends and you cannot do that with its new lines, that session has not done its job yet.
Free practice on this site to try first.
You do not need to buy anything to start speaking. These cover the first exchanges a move or a trip brings.

Common questions.
Is Rocket Spanish worth the money?
That depends on how you like to learn. It is a self-paced course with podcast-style audio lessons, grammar and culture lessons, role plays and voice recognition, sold for a one-time price with lifetime access. If you need a person to hear you and correct you, or you only need survival phrases for one trip, free practice or a tutor may suit you better. Use the free trial and judge it by what you can say from memory the next day.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Rocket’s Spanish page offers a free trial and says no credit card is required. Its help centre says the trial lets you try out all levels of its courses.
Does Rocket Spanish teach Latin American Spanish or Spain Spanish?
Rocket’s Spanish pages frame the course around Latin America and its culture. If you are moving to Spain, use the free trial to check whether it covers the forms you will hear there before you buy.
Can I get a refund?
Rocket’s refund policy offers a full refund on any purchase within 60 days, requested by email with your receipt number. On a payment plan the 60 days run from the first payment. Purchases made in the iOS app follow Apple’s refund rules, which Rocket says typically allow 14 days.
Will Rocket Spanish make me fluent?
No course can promise fluency, and this page makes no such promise. Rocket’s help centre maps its levels roughly to CEFR A1/A2, A2/B1 and B1/B2. How far you get depends on how often you speak aloud.
Do you earn money if I buy it?
Yes. The buttons marked affiliate link on this page all use one ClickBank link, and if you buy through it we may earn a commission. The prices we saw were the same when we opened the pricing page directly and through the link on October 29, 2026.
Still deciding?
Start with the free trial, run the three-session check above, and judge Rocket Spanish by what you can say the next day without the screen. If you buy, Level 1 was US$149.95 one time, before sales tax, when we checked on October 29, 2026, with a 60-day refund; note the date when you pay.
